Du’Bois A’Keen is a proud husband and father: an accomplished choreographer, producer, published author and filmmaker: a true renaissance spirit. He is the CEO and Creative Director of A’KEEN BRAND; a modern creative agency and production company. A’KEEN Brand’s core principle is THINK. BE. LIVE…KEENLY! Du’Bois is also the Founder of THE TUESDAY THING aka T3 a global net that works; made up of creatives, artists, entrepreneurs, and young business owners from around the globe. A’Keen is a partner with CALLING ALL CREATORS – a Global Design Collective and Digital Innovation Platform rooted in Circular and Creator Economies. He also serves on faculty at the prestigious New York University as a Professor of dance teaching Contemporary technique/repertory and Lecturing on Entrepreneurship “The Work of Art” and DEI in DANCE. He is also a Guest Artist and Lecturer at Arizona State, Brenau University and Red Clay Dance Academy.

As a Georgia native and now NYC based artist and businessman: A’Keen began his professional career primarily working as a dance artist, singer and choreographer: touring, teaching and performing as the only male company member of Urban Bush Women. During his work as a touring and performing artist, he began to pivot and expand his work and resume as Branding & Marketing Strategist/Consultant for companies like UBW Contemporary Dance Company, Vitae London and 7Names ArtHouse; Later, transitioning him into the roles of Choreographer, Producer and Director for Film and Television. Since 2018 A’Keen has worked as a writer, producer and Director for Untold Productions.

In addition to his 6+ years of company life and ever going solo performing practice A’Keen has performed as a Dancer and Vocalist with: Jazz/Opera Composer and Daniel Schynder, Operatic Soprano Karen Slack, Jazz Composer/Trombonist Criag Harris, Dance/Singer Kingsley Ibeneche, and Choreographer: Alex Ketley, Carl Flink, Jawole Zollar, Marjani Forte-Saunders to name a few. His touring and performing career has allowed him the opportunity to take some of the world’s most renowned stages, Lincoln center, the Apollo, the Kennedy Center, The Ford Theater and others. A’Keen is recently Signed to UIA talent agency 

A’Keen’s commissioned choreographic and film work has been featured in the NY Times, The Washington Post, Dance Magazine and Opera Wire. He is an IFP Screen Forward Lab Fellow for the 2017 cohort. In 2018 he Co- produced, directed and performed for the award winning film anthology series CAMPFIRE POETRY MOVEMENT SERIES. He made his Operatic Debut, also in 2018, as the Choreographer and Guest Artist of Charlie Parker’s YardBird with the Arizona Opera. He is a 2018 NYTV Featured Artist, 2019 choreographer and producer for FOX NETWORK’s DANCE SQUAD and 2020 guest Choreographer for OPERA on TAP. He can be seen on ALL ARTS TALKS and ALL ARTS AT HOME digital series.

A’KEEN most recently premiered his first feature length film, DWB ( Driving WHILE BLACK ), starring Opera Soprano Karen Slack, commissioned by UrbanArias and produced by his production company A’KEEN BRAND. In 2021 His work Incarnation 1, which examines: ancestry, the divine feminine and eternal blackness will have its world premiere as a part of Chicago based dance company’s, RED CLAY, 12 season – Visions & Voices Virtual Performance. A’Keen thoroughly enjoys collaborating and working interdisciplinarily across the industries of film, music and dance. Faith and Service are extremely Important to A’Keen so in addition to a lifetime of serving and volunteering in ministry He is a Graduate of STS Bible Institute Discipleship Training and Ministerial Track. He has Served a Worship lead and Creative director for the past 15+ years for local ministries along the Eastcoast. A’Keen looks forward to continued growth and success nationally and internationally, alongside his beautiful daughter and wife/life partner, Camry Vonyaé A’Keen.
